Hull Independent Cinema presents: ANNIE
3pm, 18 March 2017, Hull Truck Theatre, Ferensway, Hull
John Huston | 1982 | USA | Cert U | 122 mins
Hull Truck Theatre is open all day, so head along early to enjoy a drink or some food from their cafe-bar. Doors to the screening room open ten minutes before the performance starts at 3:00pm.
Based on one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, ANNIE is the story of a plucky, red-haired girl who dreams of life outside her dreary orphanage.
One day, Annie (Aileen Quinn) is chosen to stay for a week with the famous billionaire “Daddy” Warbucks (Albert Finney). One week turns into many, and the only person standing in the way of Annie’s fun is Miss Hannigan, the tyrannical ruler of the orphanage (played to hilarious perfection by Carol Burnett). Will Miss Hannigan’s zany attempts to kidnap the irrepressible Annie succeed? Enjoy all the unforgettable songs, including “It’s The Hard – Knock Life” and “Tomorrow.”
“What makes ANNIE so winning is that, while it could have easily been just another cutesy-poo Hollywood musical, it happens to be as gritty, genial and boisterous as little Annie herself.” – New York Daily News
