Cult Cinema Sunday – FLASH GORDON – June 11

Cult Cinema Sunday presents: FLASH GORDON

11 June 2017, Fruit, 62-63 Humber Street, Hull, HU1 1TU

Mike Hodges | 1980 | USA | Cert PG | 106 mins

Our partner night Cult Cinema Sunday returns to FRüIT with ’80s sci-fi classic FLASH GORDON.

Putting the Cult in the City of Culture. The original, challenging and just plain cool from the world of cult & genre film – life’s too short for bad movies. The night has the perfect mix of Thieving Harry’s food, craft beers, free film quiz, prize raffle and custom made alternative movie posters.

American football hero Flash (Sam Jones) is dragged from Earth to the outer reaches of the Universe where he must battle the evil dictatorship of Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow). He is helped by technical wizard Dr Hans Zarkov (Topol), the winged Prince Vultan (Brian Blessed) and the brooding Prince Barin (a pre-Bond Timothy Dalton). Ex-‘Blue Peter’ presenter Peter Duncan makes a cameo appearance, while the soundtrack is provided by Queen.

“There’s plenty of colourful fun and an awful lot of men in tights. Don’t listen to its po-faced detractors — for sheer cinema fun, FLASH GORDON can’t be beaten.” – Film4
