Based on a short story by Haruki Murakami, this critically acclaimed South Korean film tells the story of Jong-soo, a part-time worker who bumps into old neighbour Hae-mi. She asks him to look after her cat while she’s on a trip to Kenya, but when she returns, Hae-mi introduces Ben to Jong-soo. One day, Ben visits Jong-soo with Hae-mi and confesses his own secret hobby.
In this thrilling adaptation of a Haruki Murakami short story, Korean auteur Lee Chang-dong returns with a gripping psychological thriller about obsessive love set in modern consumerist Korea.
BURNING tells the story of three individuals and a mysterious incident they experience. Jongsu bumps into an old friend, Haemi, on a part-time delivery job. Haemi asks Jongsu to take care of her cat while she leaves on a trip to Africa. When she returns, Haemi introduces Jongsu to Ben, a man she met in Africa. One day, Ben and Haemi pay Jongsu a visit, and Ben reveals his secret interests to Jongsu.
Featuring Jong-seo Jeon, Steven Yeun, Ah-In Yoo

“All three leads are sensational (Yeun turns yawns and soft laughter into nightmares), giving performances that retain a sense of mystery that dovetails with the movie’s ambiguity.” – The New York Times
“Is it a love triangle, a murder mystery or a comment on the human condition? Whatever you call this stunning, slow-build thriller from South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, it sizzles with a cumulative power that will knock the wind out of you.” – Rolling Stone
